Opened on June 28, 1997, this facility provides complete service to commercial fishing and recreational boaters alike. This is truely a unique marina which has been built with leading edge marine technology. The 18 to 25 foot tides, common to this area, presented some spectacular challenges to the marine engineers. A new type of mooring system, developed in Canada, supports the floating wharves and finger piers in a tidal range of up to 25 feet. The breakwater, like the wharves floats on the tide and protects the marina using wave absorbtion, a proven but relatively new method of taming the elements.
